The Leander Kitchen
An oak kitchen rebuilt for a house that gained a third child and lost a wall. The island is the dining table.
The kitchen was a galley with a dining room beside it that held homework, mail, and the actual meals. The wall between them was not structural. The cabinets were a honey oak that the owners had stopped seeing.
We took the wall down, kept a warmer wood this time, and made the island long enough to eat at. The range sits in the working side of the room. Open shelves hold the dishes that get used, not a display.
This was a tighter budget than Tarrytown. The stone is simpler, the appliances stayed, and the money went into the plan and the carpentry.
